How Wrought Gate Repair Was Born in Chino

The idea for Wrought Gate Repair didn’t come from a business plan or a marketing meeting. It came from a driveway in south Chino, where an older homeowner stood next to a gate that had collapsed off its track, holding an invoice from a different company that charged her for parts that were never installed. She didn’t know what a gate bracket looked like. She just knew her gate wouldn’t open and she’d already paid someone to fix it. That moment stuck with us.

This was around 2012, and the gate repair trade in Chino had a problem. Some companies quoted one price over the phone and a different one after the work. Others replaced motors when a hinge adjustment would have done the job. Homeowners had no way to tell the difference, and the people doing the work knew it. We started Wrought Gate Repair with a simple promise: the price we quote is the price you pay, and we don’t replace a part that doesn’t need replacing. Fourteen years later, that’s still the whole business.

Our Founder’s Personal Connection to the Gate Repair Trade

The first gate we ever fixed was our own. It was a heavy wrought iron driveway gate, the kind that groans when it moves, and one morning it simply stopped responding to the remote. We stood in the driveway in work clothes, late for an appointment, pushing the remote button over and over, listening to the motor hum but watching nothing move. Most people would call a repair company. We opened the motor housing instead.

What we found inside wasn’t complicated. It was a plastic gear, stripped smooth from years of use, and a circuit board covered in fine dust that had worked its way in through a small gap in the casing. We ordered the replacement gear, cleaned the board, and put it back together. The gate opened like it was brand new. That afternoon, sitting in the driveway with grease on our hands and a functioning gate, we realized something: this work isn’t mysterious. It’s mechanical. It’s logical. And when someone explains it honestly and fixes it correctly, the customer feels the difference immediately.

That feeling never went away. Every gate we repair, whether it’s a FAAC hydraulic operator in the hills above Upland or a simple chain-drive gate in Montclair, carries that same satisfaction. You find the problem, you fix it right, you show the homeowner what was wrong. The smell of motor grease and warm metal, the click of a limit switch engaging, the smooth swing of a balanced gate leaf, these are the details that keep us in this trade. We didn’t inherit this work from a family member and we didn’t take a training course and decide it was a career. We just opened a gate motor one morning and found that we couldn’t walk away from it.

What gets us out of bed is the repair that confuses everyone else. When a gate opens halfway and stops, or makes a grinding noise only in cold weather, or works fine from one remote but not the other, that’s the kind of problem we think about long after the workday ends. If we weren’t doing this, we’d probably be fixing something else with moving parts and a control board. Some people are built that way.

Meet Our Team – The Person Behind Every Job

Our founder is the owner and lead technician at Wrought Gate Repair. The team started with one person, one truck, and a toolbox in Chino, and every job since then has carried the same weight: if the gate doesn’t work when we leave, the job isn’t finished.

The training came the old-fashioned way. Years of opening panels, testing circuits, adjusting hinges, and learning the quirks of every major gate operator brand, including BFT and Linear systems that show up often in Chino Hills and the surrounding foothills. There was no shortcut, and there still isn’t. What separates us from a corporate technician is that we’ve never had a quota, a script, or a supervisor pushing upsells. We answer to the homeowner standing in the driveway.

Outside of work, the same curiosity that drives gate repair shows up in other ways. We take things apart to see how they work. We fix things before replacing them. We believe in doing a job once and doing it right. That commitment extends to every customer we meet, every gate we touch, and every promise we make. If we wouldn’t accept the work on our own home, we won’t accept it on yours.

Our Promise to Chino Homeowners

Every promise we make comes from a real experience, not a training manual. Honest pricing means the quote we give you before the work starts is the amount on the invoice when we’re done. No surprises, no “we found something else.” We decide that together, up front, in writing.

Quality parts matter because a cheap hinge or an off-brand circuit board fails in six months and you’re calling another company. We use parts that last. We’ve seen what happens when someone doesn’t, and we won’t put our name on that kind of repair.

Standing behind every job means if something we fixed isn’t working right, we come back and make it right. That’s not a policy in an employee handbook. It’s the reason people in Chino, Ontario, and Pomona call us when their gate breaks. Your gate is the first thing that greets you when you come home. It should work like it matters.

Our Credentials

State-Licensed: Every professional working under our name is required to hold the license their state requires for gate repair and installation work.

Insured & Bonded: We carry the insurance and bonding homeowners should expect from anyone working on their property.

Local Experience: We’ve been repairing and installing gates in Chino and the surrounding communities since 2012.

Strong Local Reputation: Our business has grown through referrals from homeowners across the Inland Empire who trust our work and recommend us to their neighbors.

Licensing matters because gate repair involves motors, electrical connections, and heavy moving parts. A licensed professional understands the safety requirements and the local codes that apply to your property. Insurance protects you if something goes wrong. Experience means we’ve seen your exact problem before and we know how to fix it correctly the first time.

Rooted in Chino

We’ve fixed gates near Ayala Park, in the neighborhoods off Central Avenue, and across the newer developments expanding toward the southern edge of town. Chino’s mix of older ranch-style homes and newer planned communities means we see everything from twenty-year-old gate operators to brand-new smart systems, and that variety has made us better at our work. This is where we live and where our customers live. When your neighbor’s gate breaks and they ask who can fix it, we want that answer to be us.
